What kind of costs should AceProject manage?

Hello,

 We would like to track project costs as our each project has a value with different hourly rate.

This feature if added i will be first one to buy this software. I almost liked all of the feature but just becase Cost tracking is not included i am having second thoughts.

Can you please add this to your software.

Cost tracking is probably the next major feature we'll add to AceProject. It requires an exhaustive analysis. At present, I have no idea when it could come out. We'd like to be able to release this feature by the end of 2008. We'll see... 

I think providing  functionality to measure project costs and tasks cost/budgets will be  great.

What about adding a cut and paste capability  to minizime typing, so that users can just cut and paste from Word or Excel documents into Aceproject ? 

 Text can be pasted in fields and text boxes. Right-click or CTRL-C/CTRL-V can be used for "copy/paste" in fields. For text boxes (such as task details or comments), right-click has been disabled. Therefore, only CTRL-C/CTRL-V can be used.

Congratulations for the great product. It has a lot of features and I could say that ratio price/functionality is very very good.

The Budget tracking is still missing and to have such a feature in the AceProject would be very nice

All of mentioned by you aspects are relevant. From my prospective it would be enough to have project budget (Not as a total amount but spitted by some categories - software, hardware, external consultancy ...) and to track how the budget is spent task by task - similar to time sheets.  

Also it would be very useful if we can map which budget item of the organisation's budget covers the project’s budget

My sentiments are the same about the cost tracking feature. While AceP is an excellent PM tool which is easy to learn and use, there is no doubt that a comprehensive resource management tool is needed. Labour is a resource yes; but only the hours are currently tracked and from my exposure, the hours are equally distributed across the specified duration of a task.Instead:

• Users should be able to distribute the hours they have in different ways across the days that the task will be performed over.  Eg. 2hrs-day1, 3hrs-day2, 0hrs-day3 and 5hrs-day4 to fully allocate the 10 hours that a user is giving to the task. Essential also is the option to enter the rate at which each user will be paid for the hours spent so that a proper costing can be provided.

There are other resources. Eg. Renting of Equipment and locations, Employee benefits, Travel expenses, Materials for input, External services that can be accessed among others. All of these are useful resource options that will make AceProjects beat the competion by not just a mile but a couple miles for certain.

A feature that I would like to see is one where the Gantt Chart has the option to drag and drop dependencies without having to drill down into the menu items to make the appropriate changes. This would be excellent.

I might be asking for too much, but while the Gantt chart is like the most popular way of representing timeline and tasks of a project. There are a host of other graphical representations. Two or three more of these could be added to the list for representing data. 

If you can do this and keep the subscription rates the same , I would be nothing less than a bigger fan and would seriously do some work at promoting your product for Ace-ing project mangement.
