Contextual Help - Task Statuses (Edit Project Information)

The Task Statuses tab is where you set your own statuses for tasks in the project. Usually, task statuses are related to the task's completion level.

This tab has 3 parts: The title bar, the navigation tabs and the
list of task statuses.
  • The title bar tells you where you are in AceProject.
    • The "Add a Task Status" link lets you create a new task status within the current project.
    • The "Help" link brings you to the contextual help.
  • The Navigation Tabs lets you to reach specific project parameters: assigned users, task groups, task types, task statuses and task priorities. Click on the tabs to reach a specific configuration page.
  • The list of task statuses lists all statuses assigned to the project, with their description.
    • The "Project Number" row shows the current project's number. Click it to display the basic project parameters.
    • The "Project Name" row shows the current project's name. Click it to display that project's task list.
  • You can sort the list by clicking any column header: click once to sort in ascending order and twice to sort in descending order.
    • A status is used to inform on the state of completion of a task: pending, in progress, completed, etc.
    • There are 3 task status types: "Waiting", "In Progress" and "Completed".
      • The Waiting status means the task is not yet started.
        • Tasks with a "Waiting" status automatically have 0% Done. Note that if a task is set back to "Waiting", its % Done will be reset to 0 (zero).
      • The "In Progress" status means the task is ongoing.
      • The "Completed" status means the task is closed. Note that tasks with a Completed status automatically have 100% Done.
      • You can set more than one task status for each type.
      • If you are using task dependencies, AceProject will not let you delete the last task status of any type. This means you must have at least one "Waiting" status, one "In Progress" status and one "Completed" status.
    • Click on the status' name to make changes to it or delete it. There must be no task associated with this status in order to delete this task status.
      • If you want to have a name without letters or numbers, you can simply type a period (.) or n/a.
      • You must type a number in the "Order" field. Letters are not accepted.
    • You can choose to reset the order of your task statuses purely alphabetically or with completed statuses at the bottom. For example:

      Original:
      To check  1
      Done  2
      In progress 3

Task statuses set to alphabetical order:
      Done 1
      In Progress 2
      To check 3

Task statuses set to alphabetical order WITH completed statuses at the end:
      In Progress  1
      To check 2
      Done 3
