Here is some general information on how best to use AceProject as a bug tracker.

  1. Handle your bugs in one or several dedicated projects.
  2. Assign all users who potentially will need to be involved in the bug tracking process to the bug project(s).
  3. Create your custom task statuses in those dedicated projects to reflect your bug tracking workflow. The names you give to the statuses should  be explicit enough on their own to tell all assigned users on the task whose turn it is to perform the next step  in the bug resolution workflow.
  4. Create your bugs as AceProject “tasks” in your bug project(s) and assign all users who will be involved on the bug.
  5. Essentially, communications to all concerned parties will come as e-mail notifications, often coming as a result of a task status update. These e-mail notifications informing the assigned users about the change to the status of the task will be the signal to whomever must perform the next step in the process to begin his/her part of the work. Hence, users will change the status of the task to the next step in the workflow once their part of the work is done.
