Latest Enhancements: February 2015

We are back out of hibernation from an extended holiday break. In this latest release, the Task Gantt chart has been replaced and now conforms with the Project Gantt chart, using the same technical component. This new Gantt is a big improvement on what was previously included. Check out also the many improvements and bug fixes that have been done throughout the application. View the following video showing the new Gantt chart and more:

New Task Gantt Chart Functionality

After a fairly lengthy implementation period, the development team has finally put the finishing touches on the new Gantt chart (Accessible via Tasks>Gantt, form the left main menu) that harmonizes with the Project Gantt chart. One of the most exciting things to come out of this is that dependencies can now be set directly within the Gantt chart as well as ordering of tasks. Also, you can now dynamically change start and end dates as well as modify the progression %, all in one location. It does a great job, however, there is room for some improvements yet.

Latest Enhancements: October 2014

An update to all accounts was rolled out earlier today. This release should have been seamless to the majority of accounts. A few behind the scene changes as well as a few enhancements for you on this beautiful Autumn day…

Amazon Document Storage

First, the documents that you add to your account are now stored on Amazon (physical storage in USA facilities is only utilized).  This provides for even more reliability and security, as well to provide us more room to expand the amount of storage space per account…In other words, there is now no ceiling to the amount of extra storage space that can be added to your account if needed (Current limit was 70 Gb total)

Forward Email to Create Task

Create task via an email has been enhanced by supporting creation through email Forwarding now too! No more copying content, composing a new email…simply click on Forward and add the project email address that you wish the task to go into.

Here is how it works:
1. Go to the […]

Marked Task levels

Marked tasks used to have a simple on or off state. This has now been enhanced to include six color levels that can be cycled through to indicate priority or different levels for your personal tasks. You can then filter by these tasks and order them according to color. This is applied as well to marked Custom Task Reports […]

Latest Enhancements: June 2014

Summer is finally in full swing and AceProject has added more exciting enhancements. Our aim is to make you more productive and to make the interface easier to understand for those new clients continually coming on board. Two of the major enhancements this month, specifically the Timeclock on a pop-up dialogue, and the User Assistant were suggested via user requests. Either watch the following short video and/or read below to see what has been added this month.

Timeclock Pop-Up

In past versions the timeclock was on a page that needed to be navigated to in order to set and start/stop.  You were always losing your place and had to navigate back to the page you were on.  It is now conveniently located on a pop-up dialogue box that you simply open when needed and dismiss.

User Assistant

Ever want to create multiple users at the same time?  AceProject has developed a new Add User Assistant to accomplish this task. This step-by-step Assistant will allow you to set up as many users […]

Latest Enhancements: May 2014

Spring is in full swing and summer is fast approaching, all the while AceProject continues to push out exciting new enhancements to make your work more productive.  Take a look at the short video that shows you what is new and/or read below:

Video access through dashboard

We have begun a series of videos to complement the AceProject experience. Mostly tailored to the new user or those looking for a quick reference, these videos allow a quick view of how AceProject operates, its interface and concepts, as well as the recent enhancements.

Menu standardization

The behavior of menus within the Home or Project “context” have now been mostly standardized.  This means that the same menu items will be available throughout the interface. Latest Enhancements: April 2014

Spring is upon us.  The sun is shining, the snow is melting, the birds are singing, and we have been busy adding new features to make your experience using AceProject even more enjoyable. The new features touch many aspects of AceProject, from documents to time management. Take a look at the short video that shows you what is new and/or read below:

Time Management Settings

A new Time Management configuration/settings functionality is now available.  These are global account settings.  This provides better control over how a user enters time:

“I do not want my users to enter time on completed tasks” (no problem)
“Users can modify their timeclock start and end times?  How can I stop this?” (solved as well)
“I want users to place time against a task…not against the project (or vice-versa)?” (yup…it’s there)
(Do I hear Adminstrators cheering?)

Here is the settings dialogue, located under Admin -> Edit Account -> Time Settings

A “nightshift” mode has also been added to solve the spilling over of one’s Timeclock to the next day. When active, all […]

Tip of the month – March 2014: Discover the power of AceProject’s API

The API, huh?

AceProject is able to do some incredible things…but not everything. Sometimes you wish “if only there was a way to (fill in the blank)”. Well, if you didn’t know this already, AceProject comes with a fairly complete API or Application Programming Interface. I won’t say that now you have endless possibilities…but you almost have endless possibilities. The API is a function library that can be accessed outside of the AceProject interface to do some really nifty things.

If you are like me and have little or no experience in programming, wouldn’t you want to have access to this powerful mechanism? Say for example that you want to extract some information directly to Excel because for some reason it is not accessible to export from the AceProject interface?…well, now you can.

The following video shows how to extract a GUID and get data to come into Excel without any programming…take a look:

What could one do with the API? (with a little help from a programmer)

Connect systems together and exchange data – Do you have a third […]

Latest Enhancements: February 2014

Valentines day has just past.  AceProject would like to extend this day and share the love with some new enhancements and fixes that aim to please.  Over the past several months you have seen many small changes that enhance the user experience.  This month is no different.  Our goal is to make your workflow more fluid and provide you with the functionality to make day to day use easier.  Many of the enhancements that you see in AceProject come from our users.  Although they do not all make it in, we take in and discuss all submissions.  Let’s take a look and see what is served up in this update, shall we?

Action on tasks from Home task list

Bulk updates were recently introduced at the project level.  This has now been introduced at the Home level, allowing a user to delete multiple tasks from multiple projects at the same time.

Wait, there is more…bulk delete of projects from the Home -> Projects list.  Yes you heard me.  Don’t worry admins, the function/ability becomes available only if a […]

Latest Enhancements: January 2014

Happy (belated) New Year everyone!  We here at AceProject wish you all the best for 2014! Hopefully, a few of the latest enhancements that were released on January 15th and today, January 29th, will start the year off on the right foot. Much effort is being placed on streamlining functionality and simplifying the interface.

New Document Sub-menu

You may have noticed that fewer page changes/loads are occurring? More pop-up dialogues and other mechanisms have been added through the interface. For example, check out what happens when you click on the document indicator in the task list. A new menu appears.  From this list you can preview (an image) or download. No more need to go to Edit Task -> Documents (however, this page is still there).

Modification of User Rights

Another change that may be of interest to you is User Rights. The Rights have been simplified.  B1, C1, D1 have been merged with B2, C2, D2, and now there are only 4 User Right options: Read Only, Limited, Extended, […]
